Back from vacation and information about a contest

I really do enjoy keeping this blog, but it is amazing how easy it is to become overwhelmed.  I have been on vacation for two weeks with little wifi access.  For some reason or another, I just didn’t feel compelled to type an entire blog post on my Droid!

Of course, now I am behind by fifteen books on my reviews.  I have been home almost a week and just now getting started.  I have Kate at Read This Book! to credit with getting me off my duff.  Kate is a Young Adult book reviewer with an amazing site.  She read 174 books in 2009 and is participating in the Debut Author Challenge hosted by The Story Siren this year.

Anyway, Kate is holding a $70 Giveaway for a gift certificate from CSN stores.  If I win, I plan on buying a new bookcase to go up in my bedroom.  Be sure and check it out.

Prince of Persia: the movie

Okay, this post has nothing to do with books, although I am sure there will be a book out based on this movie soon.  Consider this one of the ramblings I warned you to expect.

I went to see this movie yesterday with a friend.  I really had no idea what it was about except there was something to do with altering time.  I did know that it was based on a computer game.  It was obviously an adventure/fantasy film, so how could I resist?

It was great.  There was absolutely no “message” that I could find.  It was just a lot of fun.  I kept thinking it was an Indiana Jones meets Ancient Persia combination.  There were even some scenes that could have been taken right out of an Indiana Jones movie.

I spent a good bit of the movie trying to figure out where I knew the actor who played Prince Dastan from.  It is Jake Gyllenhaal, who played in The Day After Tomorrow.  That is another favorite film of mine.

If you are interested in a good escapism movie, go see this and enjoy yourself.

The Reason for this Blog

Although I track my books on Goodreads, I wanted a place of my own to talk about books.  I will post reviews for the most part, but I reserve the right to ramble.
